Parental Alienation Conference June 30, 2012 in Chicago

Support from Shared Parenting networks in Central Illinois and Chicagoland, a partnership with Parental Alienation Awareness advocates, and CRC-IL activists, resulted in a tremendously successful conference in downtown Chicago! Over 70 attorneys, therapists and parents packed a large conference room from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Presentations by national Parental Alienation researcher Dr. Amy Baker and litigation expert Brian Ludmer were outstanding. Video recordings of the presentation are being processed and are expected to be released soon. Follow up workshops are being planned for the fall in Central Illinois and Chicagoland.

Seminars: "Visitation Resistance, Abuse, and Custody issues for Children of Divorce" , led by Doris Libman, M.S., LCPC of the Barr-Harris center in Deerfield on May 12 and by Hozinsky and Libman on April 28. Board members of the Children's Rights Council of Illinois attended the companion Parental Alienation seminar led by Hozinsky and Libman at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis downtown Chicago. The clinical knowledge of Hozinsky and Libman and the vibrancy of the Q&A sessions were excellent.

A very engaging workshop for parents on dealing effectively with law enforcement over visitation interference situations. Free "how to" materials provided to participants at the workshop, led by an experienced police trainer attorney, with prior experience in Visitation Interference law. (note: This workshop was not for commercial purposes. It was offered purely as a community service.)

Parental Alienation Awareness Organization organized a conference on Parental Alienation in Chicago, May 21, 2011, 9:00 to 3:00pm. This conference was incredibly helpful! Many parents attending learned improved ways to recognize and cope with Parental Alienation.

Parental Alienation Awareness Day, April 25, 2011. CRC-IL activists interviewed on WJBC radio, The VOICE of Central Illinois --- http://wjbc.com/groups-raising-awareness-of-parental-alienation/

Visitation Interference Workshops - Three previous workshops held in the Chicago area, February through April, 2011. Led by an experienced police trainer in the area of UVI, these very engaging sessions helped parents deal more effectively with enforcement of their children's access to them. Parents report these workshops to have been well worth their time.

We have directly met, corresponded, and conferenced with numerous divorce professionals across Illinois on policy issues over the past four and a half years. We have helped advance legislation of benefit to children of divorce, such as, SB2933 "Integrative Family Therapy" and HB1604 “Visitation Interference”. Our direct recommendations to the Illinois Family Law Study Committee in 2009 and 2010 for statewide "Parenting Time" minimum guidelines,, Required Parenting Plans, and other reforms, as well as our previous representation on the Chicago Bar Association's family law subcommittee in 2007 and 2008, has influenced the debate over family law and judicial protocols. We sincerely believe that our recommendations for reforming Illinois judicial protocols and expansion of public programs will enhance the willingness and ability of divorcing parents to "put the kids first".
